SHOP WINDOW DISPLAY AUTOMATON OF A DRUNKARD
French, probably by Roullet and Decamps, circa early 20th Century, the man dressed in top hat and tails and spats, white painted 'gloved' composition hands, painted articulated face, blue glass eyes, holding a walking cane in one hand, standing on a rectangular wooden base housing an electrically operated mechanism, which when activated causes the man to become quite animated with several movements: his eyebrows move up and down, his lower lip moves in a talking motion, his eyes and head move from side to side, his right foot taps and his left arm points from side to side towards a rotating light box beside him, in timber case, the base over painted
Man 60cm high, overall 86cm high x 59cm wide x 35cm deep
