"...a fair show of pleasure-seeking
citizens, supplemented by Melbourne visitors,
crowded the numerous vehicles that plied for
passengers, and those who thus hied thither
wards under such discouraging circumstances,
were not wholly disappointed. Save one
short and not unpleasant shower, the day
was dry, cool, balmy, and excessively pleasant."
