Adelaide Perry was awarded the National Gallery of Victoria travelling scholarship in 1920. Shortly thereafter she left to study in Paris and at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, before finally settling back in Sydney where she eventually taught art at the Presbyterian Ladies College. Perry encouraged her students to work from the real object, in the traditional manner, and base their work on that of the old masters.
She exhibited with the Victorian Artists Society, Grosvenor Galleries, and Macquarie Galleries, Sydney.
Established in 2006, The Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing is an annual award presented by Presbyterian Ladies' College in honour of her artistic merit and work at the college.
