The rectangular plaque is finely carved to each side with a panel surmounted by two archaic kui dragons, one side is carved with as two boys playing in the garden, while the other side is carved with a poem followed by the signature Zigang.
The plaque is carved from lustrous, finely textured jade of attractive translucency, displaying meticulous workmanship throughout. Measuring 6 cm high, 4 cm wide, and 0.8 cm thick, it conforms to the classic proportions of the renowned zigang pai (Master Zigang plaque), commonly referred to by collectors as a "six-by-four" plaque (liu-si pai). This format, defined by its harmonious dimensions, is widely regarded as the archetypal size for such revered jade carvings. A closely related six-by-four zigang pai, carved on one side with a depiction of Buddha riding an ox, was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 3 June 2015, lot 3164.
It's with a fitted box.
