Lot 51

OPAL AND DIAMOND RING, CIRCA 1899
Composed of a line of graduating oval opal cabochons, embellished with old-cut diamonds, mounted in 18ct gold, size Q, gross weight approximately 5.9 grams, Chester assay marks.

Estimate $560 - $800

Sold for $500

In our opinion the opals display good play-of-colour, some scratches and nicks to the surface, one opal chipped, the mounting displays scratches commensurate with age and wear. Diamonds are of decorative quality, one diamond deficient.

The ring is of good workmanship with signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Overall condition is good considering its period.
