Lot 5

A PAIR OF ANTIQUE CHINESE POLYCHROME-DECORATED PORCELAIN VASES
Qing dynasty, 19th century

Each of square outline with a waisted neck and tapering towards the base, a pair of applied mask and ring handles below the shoulders, decorated on opposing sides with scenes of figures engaged in various activities, the other sides with inscriptions, on later gilt metal bases, one presently mounted as a lamp with shade (not drilled)

Each 43cm high (including metal feet)

Estimate $800 - $1,200

Sold for $4,800

Inspected under natural and UV light, the vases (and their metal mounts) are in very good condition with little appreciable wear, the decoration well preserved.

The operating condition of the lamp fitting has not been tested (and should be checked by an electrician).

(As the rim of one vase is covered by a lamp fitting and undersides of both are concealed within the metal bases, these have not been inspected in preparing this report.)
