OTHER NOTES
Charles Davis joined the 21st Mass. Inf. as a 1st Lt. on 21 August, 1861. He was made Capt. on 3 March, 1862 and transferred to the 36th Mass. Inf, on 21 October, 1864. He was mustered out of service on 18 March, 1865. He was made Asst. QM U.S. Vols. on 23 March, 1865 and Brevetted 'For Gallant and Faithful Service' from Major to Lt. Col and later to full Col.
Davis was mustered out on 19 September, 1865. He died on 9 July, 1877 aged 50 years.
