'Watching Cloud over Yellow Mountain' depicting figures walking in the foreground encompassed by a mountainous landscape.

Notes: Yuan Songnian (1895-1966) was a famous landscape painter inspired by masters of the Song and Ming dynasties and incorporated techniques such as ax-cut strokes in his rendering of the mountains to create a dramatic effect.

Provenance: Purchased in China 1947.
