Including a contemporary studio pottery Tsubo (Jar) attributed to Kawai Toru, 20th Century, together with a contemporary ceramic Mizuzashi (water container for tea ceremony) with lacquer lid, by Takahashi Rakusai III, Shigaraki Kiln. The jar 22cm high, the water container 18cm high (2).

Kawai Toru was born in 1941, the son of Kawai Takeichi. He apprenticed jointly under his father and Grandfather in 1964, making him the last disciple of the famous Kawai Kanjiro. Rakusai III (1900-1976) was considered one of the true masters of Shigaraki and Iga-yaki. He was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1958 Brussels Expo and in 1964 he was designated a Shigaraki Intangible Cultural Property.
