A JAPANESE STONE FIGURE OF JUICHIMEN KANNON BOSATSU
EDO PERIOD (1603-1868), 17TH CENTURY

Carved in deep relief before an integral mandorla, standing on a lotus blossom, holding a lotus in one hand, the other hand in varadamudra (granting boons). Carved inscription to one side of the figure.
48cm high, 24cm wide

Estimate $600 - $800

Sold for $1,100

Small damage to the mandorla at the top. Old wear to the stone.
