O'Brien is a multi-disciplinary artist who works in painting, printmaking, sculpture, video and artist zines. He is interested in domestic dwellings that feature him, along with his friends and TV characters living there. His latest body of work focuses on creating vibrant soft sculpture houses that have humorous titles and narratives, and his soft sculpture Chris' Collection, Chris and Chelsea live in this house represented here is no exception. Created for the exhibition A Boy's Own Story at The Johnston Collection, the artwork stands out as one of his most accomplished sculptures to date. O'Brien has worked at Arts Project since 2002 and presented his first solo in 2007. He has participated in numerous artist collaborations and group exhibitions nationally and internationally, and his work is held in private collections worldwide.
