Warren O'Brien is an abstract painter whose artwork reflects the rhythm and repetition of his process. His layering of vibrant colours affords the work depth, while the free brushwork and dripped paint evoke the spontaneous style of abstract expressionism. His use of the repeated arc motif—similar to the architectural form of an arched window—is magnetic in effect, drawing attention to the complex layers he builds into his work. Two exceptional paintings appear in this auction and acquired separately, or as a pair, the alluring colour palette will appeal to many. O'Brien has worked at Arts Project since 2005. He has shown in numerous group exhibitions including Melbourne Art Fair and his work is represented in private collections throughout Australia.
