Cathy Staughton is an established artist, with a 30+ year career. Primarily a figurative painter, her distinctive style speaks volumes through her bold and vivid approach to working. Her quirky style emblazons her paintings, which reflect a distinct good-bad dichotomy, as well as retaining overtones of pathos and humour. Often painting people she knows—as well as icons, angels, robots, and cats—her artworks bare all: every raw emotion, line and wrinkle. Her 2019 artwork Catherine Bell Jane Mum Bathroom is influenced by her close friend and collaborator artist and academic Dr Catherine Bell. Staughton has worked at Arts Project since 1989 and has had four solo shows including at MADMusée, Liège in 2002. She has exhibited in numerous curated national and international group exhibitions and has work in collections worldwide.
