This piece is a classic example of Constable's exceptional practice, the SLR camera reinterpreted and refined to minimal form, the object covered in brilliant orange and finished with a white frosted glaze.

Alan Constable's work is multi-disciplinary, ranging from drawing and painting to ceramics. He is most renowned for his ceramic cameras, which the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne recognised when they acquired thirteen of Constable's cameras that they presented in Melbourne Now in 2014. His ceramic sculptures, which he began developing in 2007, reflect his life-long fascination with old cameras, which started at the age of eight when he would make replicas from cardboard cereal boxes.

Constable has been a regular studio artist at Arts Project Australia since 1991. Alongside regular selection in group exhibitions throughout Australia he has presented in a number of solo exhibitions in Australia and overseas. Constable has been a finalist in a number of prominent art awards and his work is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, The Museum of Everything, London, Gold Coast City Gallery, Surfers Paradise, Deakin University, Melbourne, and Orange Regional Gallery, Orange.

Alan Constable is currently represented by DUTTON, New York; Darren Knight Gallery Sydney; and Arts Project Australia, Melbourne.
