McConnell's tender, cartoon-like works exude charm and resonate with quirky, captivating energy, the jumbled text further adding to the strange magnetism of the imagery.
Will McConnell is an emerging artist who works with various mediums on paper; his coloured drawings often interpret posters of popular films like Back to the Future and Grease, as well as pursuing themes such as self-portraiture, architecture and spacious landscapes. With intense groupings of colour and line, he balances large areas of negative space which result in unique, balanced compositions.
McConnell has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2018 and has exhibited in various group exhibitions. His work is held in private collections.
