BY UTAGAWA TOKOYUNI III (1786-1864), EDO PERIOD, CIRCA 1860'S

The first a samurai drawing his sword, good colours and impression, Dated C.1860's, signed Toyokuni ga.
The second, a woman inspecting or cleaning a sword, signed ‘special order by the 77 Year old Toyokuni', C.1862.

First image: evidence of old holes to the left hand margin, most likely associated with previous binding in a folio; colours strong throughout.

Second image: areas of tonal variation to the white ground of the lower right quadrant associated with age; colours strong throughout.
