LATE EDO (1603-1868) OR MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912), 19TH CENTURY
Delicately modelled as a puppy in refined white porcelain, with exceptionally fine incised fur throughout, the pupils painted with iron spots. Together with the tomobako (original Japanese wooden box) marked Hirado.
11cm high, 13.5cm wide
Estimate $600 - $800
Some evidence of minor restoration to the ear and side of face, possibly to conceal a crack (only sign is some fluorescing under uv light - no visible restoration to the naked eye).
