INCISED QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1735-1796)
The fine, undecorated dish carved from even-hued, lustrous, translucent white jade, with gently everted rim and wide, square-cut foot, evenly finished to a beautiful soft polish. With a four-character incised mark in kaishu script reading 'Qianlong Nian Zhi' to the base.

Gifted in 1958 to the sister of Carl Winter (1906-1966), and thence by descent.
Carl Winter was appointed Deputy Keeper of the V&A in 1945, and then Director of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, in 1946, where he served until his death in 1966.
