In good condition consistent with age and use; there is a more noticeable scratch to the cover, scattered light scratches elsewhere, and a few small, slight dents to the body.

'The argyle (or argyll) is believed to be invented by Duke of Argyll (1682-1761) who promoted the new piece of tableware designed to maintain the warmth of the gravy in its vessel, hence the origin of the name.
