The body worked in gold, polychrome and silver relief inlay, with worm-eaten foliage, flowers and a grasshopper, the neck decorated with repeated geometric motifs in fine flat inlay of silver, gilt; stamped on the base Dai Nihon Kako tsukuru (made by Kako in Great Japan), Circa 1870s-1880s.

wear and surface scratches visible overall including some patination loss in small areas, together with a small area of verdigris blooming. Wear to the patination also visible on the decoration, consistent with handling. One small area of the footrim worn down.
