Vernon Ah Kee art incorporates text-based works and installations all examining racism in the 21st century in Australia. This visual commentary is his response to the devastation that Aboriginal people have suffered due to European colonisation. Based in Queensland, the artist is a member of the Kuku Yalandji, Waanji, Yidinji and Gugu Yimithirr peoples. In 2012, Ah Kee was a finalist for the Art Gallery of New South Wales' Archibald Prize and is represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
