The creation process of 'In a Spin, The Action of the World on Things II' involved Damien Hirst attaching etching copperplates to an inverted drill. As the plates rotated, he drew on them using a variety of sharp tools, such as needles and screwdrivers. Hirst used circular, square, and rectangular etching plates of different sizes, sometimes extending the circular pattern beyond the plate's edges and other times confining it within the margins. A combination of soft and hard ground etching techniques were used resulting in splashes of colour alongside the regular circling lines. Hirst personally inscribed the plates with individual titles and the dates spanning from May to July 2002, corresponding to when each plate was etched.

Other impressions of this print are held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Manhattan; and Tate, UK.
