Lot 167
Centring a claw-set oval opal cut en cabochon weighing approximately 14.00 carats, within a geometric surround detailed with single, rose and old European-cut diamonds together weighing approximately 0.70 carats, length 22mm, width 50mm.
Estimate $5,000 - $8,000
In our opinion, the opal displays good play-of-colour, some nicks and scratches to the surface, one surface breaking. The mixed old European and rose cut diamonds are probably of F/Hcolour and VS/SI clarity as gauged and graded within the limitations of the cutting style and the mounting. The mounting has wear to the metal in the form of minor scratches.
The brooch is of good workmanship with signs of wear consistent with age and use, not noticeable when worn.
Overall condition is good.
