Lot 10
An Italian landscape with a figure on a bridge and a hilltown beyond
Oil on board
Signed lower left: Agostini
In the original carved and gilt frame
32 x 25cm, oval
Estimate $600 - $800
Generally in very good condition, the paint layer well preserved.
There is some superficial abrasion with slight spots of paint loss at the lowest point of the work (to the right of the signature, just above the sight edge of the frame). The work has slipped to the right within the frame rebate, causing the left edge of the work previously covered by the frame rebate (and thus a little discolored and lightly rubbed) to be exposed and a slight gap between the edge of the work and the sight edge of the frame. There are two dried drops of clear liquid to the centre right. (All of the foregoing points are visible in the catalogue photos.)
The frame has a couple of slight losses to extremities, occasional minor age-related shrinkage cracks and occasional scattered surface losses and is otherwise in good condition.
The opinions expressed in the condition reports are a guide only and should not be treated as a statement of fact.
