The upper part with a moulded and dentilated cornice above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, an open mirror-backed compartment below, the projecting lower part with a fall-front secretaire drawer fitted with small drawers and compartments and with a leather-lined writing surface above a pair of cupboard doors enclosing an open interior, on a moulded plinth base, fine mouldings and carved details throughout and retaining original bronze pulls, the upper edge of the drawer front impressed underside with the maker's name and number 5848
