A CHINESE GILT-BRONZE OFFERING CUP AND STAND SET, QIANLONG MARK, QING DYNASTY (1644 - 1911)
This offering set comprises a cup and stand, both richly gilt throughout. The cup is formed with a flared rim, rounded body, and straight foot, and is finely chased with a pair of dragons contesting a flaming pearl amidst scrolling lotus blooms. The dragons are powerfully rendered, their manes rising dramatically between their horns in a manner suggestive of windswept hair, with upward-arched brows and slender necks. These features are characteristic of dragon depictions from the Qianlong period.

The stand is fashioned with a foliate rim, shallow rounded sides, and a raised foot ring. Both the interior and exterior are intricately chased with confronting dragons amid lotus scrolls, while the foot is further decorated with lotus-petal motifs. The exterior base bears a gilt inscription reading "Da Qing Qianlong Fanggu" (Made in Archaistic Style during the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing).

The vessel is exceptionally well-proportioned and preserved. Through years of handling, it has acquired an even more restrained and mellow character. The superb craftsmanship displayed throughout reflects the political strength, economic prosperity, and cultural sophistication that characterized in the Qing Dynasty.

A similar example, dated to Xuande period, see Poly Beijing, 8/6/2015, lot 9703.
