Camp Schuler', another page also inscribed 'Lynnfield Mass. Nov 1863'; with research material on Glidden including a biography and copies of his army files (a lot)

Purchased by vendor from Jacques Noel Jacobsen's List in May, 1988.
OTHER NOTES
Private Austin Glidden was mustered at Beverley, Mass. on 21 October, 1861, aged 18. He was appointed Corporal in January, 1863 and died of disease at New Benn, N.C. on 13 October, 1864 aged 21. Glidden re-enlisted as a volunteer in October, 1863 and received a 30 day furlough. It is likely that the bible was presented to him whilst on Furlough in November, 1863.
