OTHER NOTES
Charles Davis joined 42nd Regt. aged 23 as 1st Lt. and Adjutant on 11 November, 1862. He was captured during an attack by Confederate Forces at Galveston, Texas and imprisoned until 22 July, 1864. Davis suffered from recurrent malaria, lung disease, diarrhoea and rheumatism but lived to 90 years and died on 30 September, 1929.
