Benjamin F. Allen joined Co. 'E' 4th Regt New Hampshire Inf. as a Pte. on 23 December, 1863, aged 18 years. He was wounded on 22 May, 1864 near Bermuda Hundred, Va. and captured on 16 August in action at the Battle of Deep Bottom, Va. He was sent to Salisbury Prison Camp and died there on 21 November, 1864.
