LETTER WRITTEN BY CONFEDERATE SURGEON J. JEFFERSON-JONES
on a piece of paper removed from a journal, addressed from 'Weston, Ga, Oct 3rd 1862', to a J.R. Binion, he mentions:
- 'many people have died in the lower part of the County with St Anthonys Fire, in fact all who took it died until I got to going among them, Bilious Typhoid ...are the prevailing diseases in this neighbourhood...',
- he expects to be called up for army service soon unless doctors are made exempt
- he asks for his friend to buy thread for his wife and 'a gallon or so of brandy' for himself
- he states that '...little Mark Holloman is expected on the train today as a corpse, he was wounded and died last Saturday', 2pp (a lot)
