A THAI UDON THANI PAINTED TEMPLE BANNER
CIRCA 1920

The wide temple banner depicting a forest scene with zoomorphic figures, humans including archers engaged in warfare, a royal figure in a pavillion, forest birds and animals including deer, tigers and elephants, some figures inscribed with Thai script, all painted in polychrome pigments on handloomed cotton.

A series of small tears along the top length of the banner, some repaired with restitching. Some general darkening through age. Some small stains. Some wear to the paintwork, particularly to the bottom edge of the banner. Otherwise no further significant faults or damage.
