The rare uncoloured map of New Guinea, is recognised as the first printed map of Australia. The whole of the lower half of the map depicts an entirely imaginary northern coast of Australia depicting of a native man with bow and arrow attacking a gryphon, a snake and a lion.

Overall condition good, consistent with age. No visible foxing, tears, folds or creases to paper.
