Ludmilla Meilerts: Melbourne Paintings 1950s - 1980s, Metropolis Gallery, Geelong, 2017
Ludmilla Meilerts was a finalist in the inaugural 1950 Dunlop Art Prize (at the time the richest art award in Australia). She was a finalist again in 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1954, placing her alongside the foremost Australian artists of the time.
A critic from the "Argus" wrote in 1949 that "Ludmilla Meilerts shows that beauty and charm can be painted by modern methods. Most shows of modern art here have given the impression that ugliness, rather than beauty was the aim. Mrs. Meilerts paints in bright colours and with a masterly technique which enables her to paint landscapes and flowers with equal facility and grace."
