AN ART DECO BRONZE AND IVORY FIGURE*
BY GERDA GERDAGO, CIRCA 1920

The female modelled in a dramatic pose with outstretched ivory hands, painted in polychrome enamel and gold patina, her costume incorporating swirls and scrolls, and a theatrical headpiece, her carved ivory face with a playful expression, around her neck a long draped chain, mounted on an oval green onyx base. Arthur Rubinstein foundry mark and GERDAGO marked to the bronze along the drapery of her costume.
32cm high, 32cm wide, 15cm deep

Estimate $8,000 - $12,000

Sold for $13,000

There is patination to the gilding overall, there appears to be some re touching to the enamel in places, the ivory components have been painted over, there are no noticeable losses to the onyx base.
