Grey and White Cat is an endearing portrait by Nethercote, the cat proudly out on its walking lead, the boldly coloured, graphic aesthetic flat yet engaging.
Joanne Nethercote is an emerging artist working with acrylic on paper and embroidery. She has a strong interest in cats, a subject matter close to her heart. Her acrylic works are flat in composition, balancing a tranquil mood with harmony of colour. Her embroidery holds a similar style and demonstrates a sensibility to contrasting materials and moving compositions.
Nethercote has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2018 and has exhibited in a number of group shows in Melbourne. Her work is held in private collections.
