Lot 825
BY FRANCE & SON, CIRCA 1960S
Comprising a draw leaf table, and six chairs, each with a curved top rail, above a dished seat, covered in original ivory wool. Each piece with France & son label, the chairs also stamped made in Denmark
The table 70cm high, 202cm long (extended), 86cm wide
Estimate $2,000 - $3,000
in generally good condition, with the extending action working easily and smoothly; the table top has a number of old scratches and superficial marks; there is typical wear and occasional light knocks to the legs of the table and chairs; some of the chair seats show wear including frayed edges and spots of dirt/stains; there is a minor (non-structural) split to the back of the toprail of one of the chairs adjacent to its joint with an upright (presumably caused by excessive weight being put on it at some point).
the table top is not yellow-orange in colour as it might appear in the catalogue photo (a trick of the light) but is, in reality, the red-brown typical of Danish teak furniture of this type and period.
