AN ITALIAN MICRO-MOSAIC PLAQUE AND BROOCH
19TH CENTURY

The plaque of oval form, featuring a floral decoration to centre on a black ground, the silk backing verso reading C. Roccheggiani/ ROMA. (repaired)
The brooch comprising three small oval plaques, each depicting Grand Tour scenes.
The mosaic 9.5cm x 6.5cm. The brooch 4cm x 4.5cm

The black ground of the plaque has a crack running diagonally from left the right that has caused associated fractures to the micro mosaic work. A section of the brass housing to verso has been filed away, possibly for an original hinge.
All three plaques forming the brooch have numerous small chips to the black ground, there is a crack and associated repairs to the plaque on the top left.
