A FINE CHINESE STRAW-GLAZED FIGURE OF A COURT LADY
SUI DYNASTY (581-618) OR EARLY TANG DYNASTY (618-907)

隋或初唐 褐釉仕女

Elegantly modelled as a beautiful lady standing with hands clasped before her, wearing diaphanous robes, her hair pulled into two chignons, the straw glaze of rich, slightly greenish-yellow hue, covered with glaze apart from lower portions of the robes which have remnant red pigment. Together with a fitted hardwood stand and a fine purple silk-lined and padded custom made Japanese wooden box.
