A NORTHEAST INDIAN OR BURMESE VOTIVE PLAQUE FRAGMENT
CIRCA 11TH/12TH CENTURY

The terracotta plaque depicts Buddha seated at Bodh Gaya underneath the Mahabodhi temple, flanked by Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha, and inscribed with sanskrit text below.
18cm high, 15cm wide

Fragmentary - losses to upper edge and to either side. Old wear and remnant earth encrustation.
