"I have for some time been interested in the objects humans create - the artifacts of our cultures. There is a powerful visual interaction between artifact and environment. From prehistoric times societies have made an artifact of nature, altering it to suit their needs. The forms that have emerged from these efforts preserve a record of the changing ways people related to their environment.
The interesting thing to me is that human perception of these forms alters. Over time artifacts are stripped of their function - the objects become pure form and is imbued with a peculiar mystique. Such a progression can be observed in the way we perceive prehistoric monumental structures today.
This process is continuous. In future time our rocket launching pads, oil drilling rigs and pipelines that cross the desert will exist only as pure form. All objects that a culture creates have the potential to become fantastic images." (Artist's Statement)
