The seal face is carved with "Du Shen" two characters in relief, the side is carved with "Zhongxia month of Renchen year in the Gai Nan Yin Studio, Ge Shuzheng".
Ge Shuzheng, also known as Ge Changying, was a renowned modern epigrapher and collector. Renowned for his expertise in connoisseurship and his passion for collecting seals, he dedicated his life to preserving and studying epigraphy and seal art. His contributions to the field have earned him a significant place in the history of seal art.
清 田黃瑞獸鈕印章
田黃石因質佳色濃、稀少難得而被尊稱爲“石中之王”、“石帝”,早有“一兩田黃十兩金”之說,身價無與倫比。明、清各朝均將其作爲貢品獻入皇宮,雕刻成禦用玺印及藝術擺件。
這件獸鈕章品色澤濃郁俏麗,質地溫潤凝膩,頂端立一瑞獸作鈕,長臉長髯,毛髮豐密,頭頂長角朝向後方,四足踡曲伏於地面,雖是傳說中的神獸,卻被刻畫得頗具寫實感,栩栩如生。章面呈長方形,鐫“篤慎”,取“厚重、謹慎”之意。印章一側刻款“壬辰仲夏月於陔南吟屋口葛書徵”,另一側則是於章面相同的“篤”“慎”二字。
葛書徵即葛昌楹,為近代著名的金石家、收藏家,他精於鑒賞,好藏印,一生一“集藏金石,輯梓印譜”為情志,為保存金石研究印學不遺餘力,在印學史上也有著相當重要的地位。
