A GEORGE II OAK ENCLOSED LOW DRESSER

Rectangular, with a pair of frieze drawers above a pair of cupboard doors, on bracket feet, the drawer fronts, doors, and sides with fielded panels

Structurally sound and in generally in good condition consistent with age and use, with typical minor shrinkage gaps and cracks, knocks and slight losses, and general wear; the shrinkage gaps and splits to the top (partly with old filling) are more pronounced. The tongue and groove pine backboards are replacements and the feet (not properly examined from the underside) may be old replacements.

The brasses are sympathetic old replacements. The right drawer retains its original lock but no key for this lock is present. The upper part of its brass escutcheon is lacking. (The left drawer never had a lock; its keyhole escutcheon is bind.) The locks to the doors are modern replacements for which a key is present.
