A PAIR OF GEORGE III STERLING SILVER CANDLESTICKS
John Winter & Co. (John Winter, John Parsons, & Charles Hall), Sheffield, 1781

In the Neo-Classical manner of Robert Adam, each with a fluted tapering shaft on a broad circular base, the edges beaded throughout, the removable pans marked 'I G & Co. (presumably for John Green, Roberts, Mosley, & Co. and therefore slightly later), with later covers with foliate finials, one of these testing as silver around 90% fineness but not marked, the other silver plate
Each 29cm high (excluding covers), total weight 1,538g (including loaded bases, excluding covers)

Overall condition and appearance good
Very minor dents to the edges of one pan
The candelsticks with small dents overall, most evident to parts of the fluted shaft and circular base
On candelstick with evidence of resoldering/repair
