The exterior in checkerboard Vuittonite pegamoid canvas bound with black-painted metal edges and straps and protected with beech battens to the top, front and back, and zinc-lined underside, all fixed with brass studs, with carrying handles to the sides, the fabric-lined interior with the remains of the printed paper label with Vuitton's Paris and London shop addresses (1 rue Scribe, Paris, and 454 Strand, London), the warrant of the Prince Wales, and medals of prizes awarded at the London exhibitions of 1885 and 1890 and the Paris exhibition of 1889
