AN ITALIAN SCAGLIOLA PICTORIAL TABLE TOP ON A GEORGE II BASE
The scagliola top, first-half 18th century, having a central panel depicting an Italian landscape with Roman ruins, the black ground embellished with birds, flowers and foliage within borders having two further landscapes and faux marble medallions, and foliate designs to each corner; the base carved with fish scale decoration to the frame and cabriole legs, having green-man mask and scroll headers and hairy paw feet.

Top has several old restored cracks, some chips around edges, base with repaired section to one mask, small split to one short end. Top requires at least four men to lift off at risk of damage so unable to take photos with it removed, but have taken them from underneath.
