The goldfields Australian brooch/pendant, circa 1880, featuring motifs of grapes, leaves and vines, the main folia comprising the centre of the piece adorned by further small motifs of grapes and vines with a reverse of a locket to fittings for a pendant and a chain brooch pin, length approximately 80mm, width approximately 76mm, gross weight approximately 48.0 grams.

XRF analysis tests 18ct.
In good condition commensurate with age.
The brooch foliate is in lovely condition displaying texture and defined shapes. The overall shape is intact and the hinge, bale and pin mechanisms all in original good working order.
The brooch is stable when closed and pinned.
The locket is empty and can hold a keepsalek.
This is a beautiful piece of Australian history. Estimated approximate date 1875-1885.
