Double sided album, oban tate-e, accordian mounted with a brocade fabric cover; a complete set of the series Tsuki hyakushi (100 Aspects of the Moon), consisting of a frontispiece, preface, an index (two sheets) and one hundred illustrations published between 1885-1892 by Akiyama Buemon, each signed Yoshitoshi and variously sealed - generally good impressions, color and condition, slightly toned, some with staining and soiling, 36.3 x 24.2cm
History: Yoshitoshi was considered the last great master of Ukiyo-e and the popular Tsuki hyakushi series - as it is called in Japanese - was published during the last seven years of his life between 1885-1892. The set consists of a hundred single sheets with very diverse subjects and only one common theme - the moon, which is visible on almost all prints.

The silk covered front and back boards are worn, with losses to edges, and a small rip to bottom edge. foxing and staining visible to woodblocks throughout. The adhesive strips binding some of the woodblocks together has come apart, separating the prints. A single woodblock is pasted down to back board.
