FOUR WOODBLOCK PRINTS
TSUKIOKA YOSHITOSHI & YOSHIIKU

Four prints from the series, 'Eimei nijuhasshuku', Twenty-Eight Famous Murders with Verse. The first, Yurugi Sogen with a head on a go board; the second, Enjo Kihachiro fallen at the foot of a statue; the third, Enjo Kihachiro fallen at the foot of a statue. The forth, Enjo Jizaemon by Yoshiiku. Comprising twenty eight prints in total (14 completed each by Yoshitoshi & Yoshiiku), this series dates from early in Yoshitoshi's career, when he was about twenty-seven, two decades before his well-known masterpieces were completed. The series is the well known example of Muzan-e or (Brutal Pictures).
