EUGENE CORNU, PARIS, CIRCA 1875
The classically draped silvered bronze angel raising both hands to support the pendulum, bearing a bouquet of gilt flowers aloft. The angel stands on a gilt bronze bed of clouds, all above an alabaster base colourfully inset with champleve enamel plaques, and raised on six gilded paw shaped feet. The circular dial features a gilded chapter ring with Roman numerals and within the centre of the dial the movement is skeletonised. Signed Eug. Cornu 24 BT Des Italiens Paris on dial, inner ring. Eight day twin barrel movement, bell striking the movement with the last pinion of the going train extended to pass through the top of the case to engage with the bottom of the pendulum.

silvered figure tarnished. working however not recently serviced or timed. Small dent to sphere of pendulum. Wear to gilding overall. Chips and cracks visible to alabaster. Dial re-gilded. Minor wear to champleve.
