"By 1984 her exhibition at Melbourne Art Exchange her works showed an increased interest in interiors as well as still life flower paintings, the numbers, including landscapes, being spread evenly. The major interiors featured an historic old pub at Birregurra on the way to Apollo Bay. The pub had been converted into a home by a new owner who was delighted to have Criss set up her easel and paint. The several results included "Sitting Room at Birregurra" and "Welcome", with its wealth of Victoriana and a cosy, warm fire." (p. 27, David Thomas)
